About the T80–T88 Code Range
These complications arise after infusions, transfusions, injections, procedures, transplants, reattachment or amputation, and other medical care. They also include problems with implanted devices and grafts.
T80 separates reactions and other problems following infusions, transfusions, or injections, including infections and blood incompatibility reactions. T81 groups procedure complications such as wound disruption, infection, and material accidentally left in the body.
Device complications are grouped by type: heart and blood vessel devices in T82, urinary and genital devices in T83, orthopedic devices in T84, and other internal devices in T85. Their subdivisions distinguish mechanical problems from infections and other reactions.
T86 separates transplant complications by organ or tissue. T87 distinguishes complications of reattached body parts from problems at an amputation site. T88 includes complications following immunization, anesthesia, and drugs.
