These injuries affect the abdomen, lower back, lumbar spine, pelvis, or external genitals. The categories separate injuries by type and by the body part affected.
S30 groups superficial injuries by site, while S31 groups open wounds by site. Abdominal wall wounds under S31 also distinguish whether they penetrate the peritoneal cavity. S32 identifies fractures by the affected part of the lumbar spine or pelvis. S33 separates dislocations, sprains, and traumatic ruptures by affected joint or structure.
S34 separates spinal cord and nerve injuries by the affected structure.
