Intraoperative and postprocedural complications and disorders of nervous system, not elsewhere classified (G97)
Clinical Information
Cerebrospinal Fluid Otorrhea - Discharge of cerebrospinal fluid through the external auditory meatus or through the eustachian tube into the nasopharynx. This is usually associated with CRANIOCEREBRAL TRAUMA (e.g., SKULL FRACTURE involving the TEMPORAL BONE;), NEUROSURGICAL PROCEDURES; or other conditions, but may rarely occur spontaneously. (From Am J Otol 1995 Nov;16(6):765-71)
Intracranial Hypotension - Reduction of CEREBROSPINAL FLUID pressure characterized clinically by ORTHOSTATIC HEADACHE and occasionally by an ABDUCENS NERVE PALSY; HEARING LOSS; NAUSEA; neck stiffness, and other symptoms. This condition may be spontaneous or secondary to CEREBROSPINAL FLUID LEAK; SPINAL PUNCTURE; NEUROSURGICAL PROCEDURES; DEHYDRATION; UREMIA; trauma (see also CRANIOCEREBRAL TRAUMA); and other processes. Chronic hypotension may be associated with subdural hematomas (see HEMATOMA, SUBDURAL) or hygromas. (From Semin Neurol 1996 Mar;16(1):5-10; Adams et al., Principles of Neurology, 6th ed, pp637-8)
Instructional Notations
Type 2 Excludes
A type 2 excludes note represents "Not included here". An excludes2 note indicates that the condition excluded is not part of the condition represented by the code, but a patient may have both conditions at the same time. When an Excludes2 note appears under a code, it is acceptable to use both the code and the excluded code together, when appropriate.
