Clinical Information

Cartilage - A non-vascular form of connective tissue composed of CHONDROCYTES embedded in a matrix that includes CHONDROITIN SULFATE and various types of FIBRILLAR COLLAGEN. There are three major types: HYALINE CARTILAGE; FIBROCARTILAGE; and ELASTIC CARTILAGE.

Femur Head Necrosis - Aseptic or avascular necrosis of the femoral head. The major types are idiopathic (primary), as a complication of fractures or dislocations, and LEGG-CALVE-PERTHES DISEASE.

Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease - A particular type of FEMUR HEAD NECROSIS occurring in children, mainly male, with a course of four years or so.

Osteochondritis - Inflammation of a bone and its overlaying CARTILAGE.

Osteochondritis Dissecans - A type of osteochondritis in which articular cartilage and associated bone becomes partially or totally detached to form joint loose bodies. Affects mainly the knee, ankle, and elbow joints.
