Includes
This note appears immediately under a three character code title to further define, or give examples of, the content of the category.
- dyskinesia
Type 2 Excludes
A type 2 excludes note represents "Not included here". An excludes2 note indicates that the condition excluded is not part of the condition represented by the code, but a patient may have both conditions at the same time. When an Excludes2 note appears under a code, it is acceptable to use both the code and the excluded code together, when appropriate.

Clinical Terms in This Code Range
Definitions from the National Library of Medicine for conditions coded in the G24 range.
Blepharospasm
Excessive winking; tonic or clonic spasm of the orbicularis oculi muscle.
Dystonia
An attitude or posture due to the co-contraction of agonists and antagonist muscles in one region of the body. It most often affects the large axial muscles of the trunk and limb girdles. Conditions which feature persistent or recurrent episodes of dystonia as a primary manifestation of disease are referred to as DYSTONIC DISORDERS. (Adams et al., Principles of Neurology, 6th ed, p77)
Genetic Torsion Dystonia
An inherited dystonia that is characterized by abnormal postures and sustained muscle contractions leading to twisting or repetitive movements.
Spasmodic Torticollis
A rare movement disorder of unknown etiology, characterized by painful, involuntary turns of the head to the right, left, upwards, or downwards.
About the G24 Code Range
Dystonia is an abnormal posture caused by opposing muscles contracting together in one part of the body. It sits among nervous system movement disorders.
G24.0 groups drug-induced conditions, separating subacute dyskinesia, acute dystonia, and other drug-induced dystonia. Other subdivisions distinguish genetic torsion dystonia, idiopathic nonfamilial dystonia, and idiopathic orofacial dystonia, which affects the mouth and face. Spasmodic torticollis and blepharospasm have their own subdivisions. The remaining subdivisions identify other or unspecified dystonia.
