Clinical Terms

The following are some of the clinical term definitions related or applicable to dissection within the ICD-10 index for Diseases and Injuries.

Aorta: The main trunk of the systemic arteries.

Arteries: The vessels carrying blood away from the heart.

Dissection: The separation and isolation of tissues for surgical purposes, or for the analysis or study of their structures.

Extremities: The farthest or outermost projections of the body, such as the HAND and FOOT.

Wounds and Injuries: Damage inflicted on the body as the direct or indirect result of an external force, with or without disruption of structural continuity.
