New 2024 ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Codes List

For the 2024 fiscal year, the ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes system has been updated with 526 new codes, of which 395 are new billable codes.

Significant updates were made to Chapter 20 - External Causes of Morbidity (V00-Y99). New diagnosis codes were introduced to specify the presence of foreign objects such as batteries, plastic, metal, and both organic and non-organic materials. This chapter received a total of 173 new codes.

Chapter 13 - Diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue (M00-M99) added 44 new codes to specify osteoporosis with pathological fractures.

Chapter 7 - Diseases of the Eye and Adnexa (H00-H59) has been updated with 47 new diagnosis codes. These additions cover conditions like proliferative sickle-cell retinopathy, specific eye muscle issues, other forms of strabismus, and the sensation of a foreign body in the eye.
